Vehicle Fleet Services

Cheshire Constabulary Vehicle Fleet Services are responsible for keeping the Police moving with its fleet of nearly 750 vehicles (everything from cars and vans to motorbikes cycles and boats) and has an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Stores and Parts Assistant to join the team. Providing essential support to Front Line Police by assisting in the supply of vehicle parts and equipment.
The ideal candidate will provide a professional and customer-focused support service and be willing to be flexible and have a “can do” attitude. The ideal candidate will already have good organisational skills and a methodical, neat and tidy approach to work.


Good communication skills are essential both in person and on the phone. The role involves constant interaction with colleagues, suppliers, Police officers and other customers. It is important to be polite, professional and communicate clearly, checking understanding where necessary.


The Stores and Parts Assistant Apprenticeship will equip you with the key building blocks from which you can continue your learning and experience journey building towards a Full Time Stores and Parts Assistant and possibly onwards to Stock Controller or even parts Manager. The role is demanding with long periods of standing and a high level of manual handling required. There is also stretching and bending and working in awkward positions involved.


Off the job training will be at a local or national college on day or block release, working towards a recognised parts qualification at Level 3. All costs will be paid by Cheshire Constabulary


The ideal candidate will meet the requirements outlined in the experience and qualifications section in the role profile attached to this advert and the application should be able to evidence strong communication skills, the ability to both work independently and as part of a team 


Cheshire Constabulary will work hard to ensure you learn a range of skills in this post. There is opportunity for both vertical and horizontal promotion. We can also offer a range of courses to improve your skillset, both in-house and externally. If you are selected for interview, in addition to the standard proof of identification documents, you will need to bring your driving license if you have one, and any and certificates for your qualifications.

Hours per week : Fixed Hours  8am – 4pm Monday – Thursday 8am – 3:30pm Friday  


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

•    GCSE at level 4 or above 
– or 
•    Maths and English equivalent such as Functional Skills at level 2 or above
•    Microsoft Excel skills – at least basic level
