The Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT) investigate referrals relating to the making, possession, and distribution of Indecent Images of Children (IIOC) and online grooming offences and proactively safeguard children through preventing harm and identifying victims.

Traditionally the OCAIT receives referrals in the form of reliable sources of intelligence from law enforcement agencies and partner agencies focussed on child safeguarding.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team as a Victim ID officer.

As a Victim Identification Officer (VIDO) you will:
- coordinate and assist in identifying child victims and offenders of child sexual exploitation from information contained within digital images and videos;
- provide vital information regarding locations, clothing, distinctive marks, scars, tattoos, equipment used to make the image, age of the image and connections between series of images;
- liaise with Child Exploitation Investigators and other Victim Identification Investigators at Local, Regional, National and International levels (including NCA CEOP, Europol);
- be a specialist user of the National Child Abuse Image Database (CAID) to achieve the safeguarding of victims of child sexual exploitation;
- ensure the immediate safeguarding of children and vulnerable individuals including working with partner agencies to achieve this.

You will receive training to assist you in this specialist role and you will develop skills and experience through the investigations you are involved in.

The OCAIT are based from HQ and respond dynamically to intelligence requiring urgent action to safeguard children and so candidates must be able to work flexibly in terms of both shifts and location.
