For the first time we are opening our doors to give the opportunity to talented Special Constables to transfer across to Cheshire on a streamlined and fast track process. We are looking for hard working Career Specials who want to make a difference across the communities of Cheshire.

We are looking for:

  • Special Constables who are confirmed in rank and have achieved independent patrol status and would like to carry this across to Cheshire Police
  • Student Special Constables who have 6 – 12 months in service and would like to move across and continue working on a Personal Development Plan in Cheshire to achieve independent patrol status
  • Special Sergeants who would like to transfer across to one of the following local policing units retaining their rank: Widnes, Runcorn, Chester, Crewe or Ellesmere Port
  • Rural Crime Special Constables who would like to transfer across into our integrated and highly skilled Rural Crime Team based out of Macclesfield, Congleton or Dragon Hall (Chester)

  • Regular continuous professional development (CPD) to ensure your skills are kept fresh, topped up and current
  • Basic driving authority with compliant stopping authority as standard once independent patrol status is granted to allow you to truly police with proactivity
  • The same kit and equipment as our regular colleagues including personal issued radios and mobile devices
  • Access to required technology to be able to confidently and proactively police our communities
  • Opportunities to grow and develop whether that is in your role achieving new skills like enhanced search certification, into a rank position to grow and develop others or laterally across to a specialist team like Rural Crime or Roads Crime

What will it look like joining us?

We appreciate you have already gone through a lengthy onboarding process, that’s why we have made it simple for you to transfer across to us here at Cheshire Police. The process will be X simple steps.

  1. Complete a short transfer application – 5th – 25th September
  2. Invited for a virtual interview with one of our SC Command Team and a member of our Citizen’s in Policing Team - W/C 3rd October
  3. You will then come to Cheshire HQ for 1 day to complete your JRFT and pre-volunteering checks e.g. fingerprints - 15th October
  4. Vetting will be completed
  5. Final Offers expected by 28th November
  6. Induction Evening with our SC Command Team – Welcome to Cheshire – 7th December, 6pm – 9pm
  7. Cheshire Personal Safety Refresher – 10th & 11th December, 8.30am – 4pm
  8. Cheshire Processes & Systems Evening – 14th December, 6pm – 9pm
  9. Go live on your local policing areas – 15th December
